This weekend’s GAA congress has the potential to radically change the rhythms of the Irish summer. Last year GAA Director-General Paraic Duffy surprised us all by releasing a detailed proposal for the restructuring of the football championship from the quarter-final stages on – two groups of four, replacing four quarter-final matches.

The document also included the abolition of replays in all games except provincial or All-Ireland finals, and the moving forward of the All-Ireland finals to August. Those are the motions being brought before Congress in Croke Park this weekend.

The Club Players Association was founded in November, with the stated aim of representing club players, and try to fix the fixture list. It was launched last month in Dublin and already has over 20,000 members, and their treasurer Anthony Moyles joins us in studio to tell us why they’re asking the GAA to vote down all of these proposals, along with All-Ireland club final winner Karol Mannion.

Plus there’s the Ireland rugby team that’s been named to face France, what about hurlin’, and the two sexiest words in Irish sport. Just click on the mic on the image at the top of your page to listen to the show.
