Episode 1083: Donnacha Ryan On Life In Paris, Life After Rugby, Sexton and Schmidt’s Secret Sauce, Ken V Caesar, Eddie Jones Pokes Dragon
Donnacha Ryan – of Ireland, Munster, Racing 92 and Nenagh – has not followed the typical career path. Initially taking up rugby at 17 to bulk up for hurling, he found himself quickly progressing with Shannon and Munster, and was forced to forget about his dream of playing for Tipp in an All Ireland final.
We ask him how he has adapted to life in Paris, why he moved away from Munster, what it was like watching Sexton’s Drop Goal with his French teammates, plans for life after rugby, the entertainment business, his diverse range of interests outside the game, and he explains how Schmidt helps eliminate player’s nerves before games.
Ken explains why is he different from Julius Caesar, we’ve more Philadelphia Eagles madness and will there be consequences for Eddie Jones’ poking of the dragon?
“The pressure on him is going be enormous. It’s whether he has the bottle to handle it.”
England boss Eddie Jones thinks Rhys Patchell is one of a number of the Wales players who will “struggle with the expectation” of Saturday’s match.
