It was another weekend of magnificent performances by Irish athletes. Gina Akpe-Moses was one part of a brilliant 4x100m women’s relay team that took home silver at the World U-20 championships, the first time Ireland has won a relay medal at a global outdoor championships.

Derval O’Rourke was in Finland for the entire event and talks to us about just how crazy it is that we now have a relay team capable of competing at this high a level, middle distance athletes coming through, and Sommer Lecky winning world silver at the high jump.

Shane Walsh was voted PWC footballer of the month for June for his man of the match display against Roscommon in the Connacht final, was man of the match again against Kerry in Galway’s first Super 8 game last Sunday, and was voted GAA.ie’s Footballer of the Week this morning. It’s safe to say he’s in a rich vein of form. He tells us about having to adapt his off-the-cuff playing style to suit the modern game, what he has learned from watching Michael Murphy and Conor McManus on the International Rules tour last winter, and we ask the key question – is he left or right footed?

Plus there’s modern coast-to-coast footballers, the 2035 global coaching seminar Ireland will be hosting on how it is we manage to produce so many great sprinters, and has Ken made it home safe and sound?
