Episode 1719: US Murph On Spike Lee Vs The New York Knicks, And Novice Cheltenham Preview With Horse-Racing’s Hugh Cahill
If you’re a Second Captains World Service member, then you’ll know that this is not usually the place to get a few good horse-racing tips. But Cheltenham is the week when everyone’s an expert, so we invited Hugh Cahill, friend of the show and the voice of RTE racing, into studio.
He talks to us about the madness of Cheltenham going ahead in the first place in light of a positive coronavirus case in the Cheltenham area, why Ireland v England at the race meet is a relatively new phenomenon, and why a festival without Ruby Walsh is new territory for everyone.
In 2001, Cheltenham was cancelled because of foot and mouth disease – but the festival is going ahead this week despite coronavirus cases multiplying across the UK and contagion causing a lockdown of 60m people in Italy. Madness.

US Murph joins us to talk about Spike Lee’s row with the New York Knicks, a team the famed director loves not wisely, but too well.
