Episode 1747: Mark O’Connell On ‘Notes From An Apocalypse’
Today we’re joined by Mark O’Connell to talk about his new book, Notes from an Apocalypse.
My book, Notes from an Apocalypse, is published in the US today. Slate has an [updated] extract, about being a parent and trying to relinquish apocalyptic pessimism https://t.co/uCWFlNmrmb

It’s all about people who are getting ready for the end of the world and why they take a certain joy in predicting the apocalypse is nigh, and being the humans most prepared for it. Have they been proven right? Are they just rich capitalists drunk on their own power? Are civilisation, supply chains and food supplies really as fragile as they believe them to be? And can we take any positivity from this period of social distancing?
Plus there’s giant NZ hideouts, the Mars colonisation project and the insect apocalypse.
