Episode 1776: Episode 8 Of The “I’ll Tell You Who Wrote It” Second Captains Book Club – Brian Kerr On The Greatest Sports Book Of All Time
In 2002, Sports Illustrated ran a poll among its editors, looking for the greatest sports book of all time. The winner was AJ Liebling’s “The Sweet Science”, and that is the subject of the latest episode of the “I’ll Tell You Who Wrote It” Second Captains book club.
Brian Kerr might seem a left-field candidate to review the quintessential boxing book – but that is to overlook his extraordinary familial link to the squared circle. In our chat today, Brian tells us about the amazing life of his father Frankie, one of the greatest Irish fighters of his, or any other era.
It’s one part family history, one part book review – and it’s an astonishing story that includes Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano, and the greatest event in the history of the Donnybrook Bus Depot.
