Episode 1857: Anglo Irish Relations, Say “Doherty”, Leinster’s Nemesis, Pure Ulster, Bale Love
Anglo Irish relations are tense at the moment, and an inability to pronounce the name Matt “Doherty” is only adding to the acrimony. John Brewin has a go at bridging the divide while Ken gets jingled.
Leinster are pro14 champs, unbeaten all season and have almost every player fit for their European Cup QF. Their opponents Saracens have been caught breaking the salary cap rules, been relegated, lost a few stars to other teams and their outhalf Owen Farrell has been banned. And yet, the scar tissue from losses to England and Saracens in recent years will be a major factor for Johnny Sexton’s side.
Shane Horgan thinks Saracens have the mentality and game-plan to worry Leinster, and if Leinster’s lineout wobbles as it did in the pro14 final they will be in trouble. We ask Andrew Trimble if `Ulster can get that Leinster game out of their system in the space of 8 days, and facing a Toulouse side who are playing it fast and loose, should they play it…. fast and tight?
Ken gives his take on Bale to Spurs speculation and ageing player-manager Simon Hick selects himself for the on-air team.
