When we spoke about our best books of 2020 with Malachy Clerkin and Sinead O’Carroll late last month, it got rather more emotional than we expected – and that was due for the most part to Ian Ridley’s “Breath Of Sadness”, one of the sports books of the year.

We speak to Ian today about the death of his wife, why he wrote the book, how he’s doing now… and why he stood up for Eamon Dunphy in Palermo during Italia 90 when Big Jack wanted him thrown out of a press conference.

Eoin also takes the opportunity to give the Egomaniacs slot one last airing, providing it as it did some of his brightest moments of 2020.
