Episode 2061: Raise the Green Flag in Magyarorszag
2021 has not been an easy year for Ireland, buffeted as we have been by the cruel storms of international footballing misfortune. But let it not pass unremarked that in our mysterious central European redoubt, by the banks of the beautiful blue Danube, sheltered in the crook of the mighty Carpathians, we are unbeaten in 2021: played 2, lost 0 (matches in Hungary) (the other one was Qatar, remember?)
So it turns out Ireland is the world capital of goalkeeping now. Randolph, Kelleher, Bazunu or Travers – is there no end to the headaches for Stephen Kenny?
We discuss the match, and what to make of the Hungarian response to Ireland’s knee protest, before David Sneyd and Gavin Cooney join us to analyse the game in more depth.
Stephen Kenny very strong on booing from Hungarian fans of Irish players taking the knee – says it is “incomprehensible” and says it doesn’t reflect well on Hungary ahead of the Euros

Really good episode and explanation of the situation with the Copa América (really good evisceration of the bullshit reasons for booing the taking of the knee too). https://t.co/VmdYoD7wq1
