Episode 2080: Olympian Emmet Brennan, Shearer’s Soul, Nuno and Rafa Eras Begin
Rafa Benitez is the new Everton manager, Nuno Espirito Santo is joining Spurs and Alan Shearer writes an open letter to former team-mate and current soulmate Gareth Southgate; England and English football continue to make no sense whatsoever.
Qualifying for the Olympics isn’t supposed to be easy, but for Emmet Brennan it was a tougher journey than most. 30 years old, having quit his job, taken out a Credit Union loan and having sworn off relationships for 18 months, he found himself in a box-off in Paris last month with qualification for Tokyo on the line.
He joins us today to talk about mental strength versus physical strength, sacrifice, delay of gratification and bringing back a medal.

New goals are set
Ready to give everything I have to complete them
I can’t express how proud I am to be wearing the Irish vest in this summers Olympic Games ?????? pic.twitter.com/L7WAT6Q2Et— emmet (@emmetbrennan91) June 18, 2021
