Episode 2549: Championship Week, Calling Out Lance, Eagles Roots, The Great Robbery Of 1891
If the San Francisco 49ers are rolling in the NFL playoffs, then you just know that US Murph is on top form… and when they’re in the NFC championship game, just one game shy of the Super Bowl, then Brian is going to be even more gung-ho than usual.
So it is this week, as he looks forward to the Conference championship games, Joe Cool 2.0, fearing the eagles, and kicker psychology – and he also shares fond memories of his old colleague Gwen Knapp of the New York Times, who was calling out Lance Armstrong and Barry Bonds before pretty much anyone else in the US.
Ken continues to rail against Kilmacud Crokes’ intransigence, Murph’s Dad wonders why Seamus Power isn’t featuring more on the golf coverage, and we remember fondly the mighty Clondrohid men of 1891, who were robbed so cruelly of All-Ireland glory.
And we endure the longest analogy in press conference history.
