Episode 2556: Ireland Take First Step, Keenan Perfection, Borthwick Bodies Eddie, Can Scots Change The Script
It was a thrilling opening weekend of the Six Nations with all six teams having their moments. Ireland made a fast start in Wales, then wobbled for a period, then impressively took back control. We chat to Shane Horgan and Andrew Trimble about Ireland’s 18th win in 20 games and how nice it is to be the team that everyone else now hates.
We marvel at the clarity and ferocity of those opening 20 minutes, the detail required in attack, the performance of Hugo Keenan, how well Finlay Bealham and Ross Byrne did coming in for two all time greats, and where the team can and need to improve if they are to beat France.
After scoring some stunning tries to beat England, again, we ask if the Scots can change the script for round 2 against Wales, and if we can read much into France’s issues with Italy.
And with the Glen – Crokes saga finally coming to a close, we are left with more questions than answers.
