Episode 2744: Souness Live From The Olympia, Vera War Rumbles On, Mack Origin Story, Louth Get Last Laugh…Kinda
Just when you thought the Vera Pauw stories were over… along comes Diane Caldwell. Facing the media at Monday’s press conference – as the team build up for this Saturday’s Nations League encounter with Northern Ireland – Diane was forthcoming with her views on the failings of the Pauw era, and also revealed how some players had recommended to the FAI that Pauw’s contract not be renewed after the European Campaign. They weren’t listened to then. They’re being listened to now.
Did you hear the one about the Aussie winger who walks into a bar in Canberra and comes out a World Cup hero for Ireland? The Mack Hansen origin story may not be exactly that but it’s not too far off it either. We hunt for truth in the archives.
Last week we spoke to Graeme Souness at our 10th anniversary show at The Olympia about why Sky let him go, fan treatment of Harry Maguire, being right about Paul Pogba, Jordan Henderson’s money move and why Graeme thinks “there’s no new way to play football”.
And Murph updates us on the Mickey Harte managerial move to Derry. And how Louth got the last laugh…kinda.
