In May 2023 a makeshift migrant camp on Dublin’s Sandwith Street was destroyed and burnt out by an anti-immigrant mob. It was one of many sites that have been attacked by anti-immigrant activists over the past few years.

Today we speak to filmmaker Dennis Harvey whose short documentary The Building and Burning of a Refugee Camp captured the incidents on Sandwith Street last summer and documented some of those migrants on the receiving end of the attack.

The Building and Burning of a Refugee Camp (2024) screens at the Dublin International Film Festival on February 27th at 6.30pm at The Circular, Rialto. His feature documentary I Must Away (2023) screens at the Irish Film Institute on March 20th at 6.30pm.
