Ken is back home and tells us how it felt to go to a major sporting event just for the hell of it.

Ireland’s European champion Ciara Mageean had to pull out of the 1500m heat with Achilles problems. We talk to Cathal Dennehy in Paris about what has gone wrong for Ciara since her European gold in June.

Cathal also describes the experience of being in the Stade de France watching Armand Duplantis breaking another pole vault world record, and previews what in his view is the standout event of the Games: tonight’s men’s 1500 metres final, expected to be a gladiatorial showdown between Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Josh Kerr. They’re gonna get it on, because they don’t get along.
