Eoin, Murph and Ken are living in constant fear at the moment… because the ego is always watching. Meanwhile Ken is hitting some personal bests on the track and in the kitchen.

There are plenty of World Service members who make a habit of buying the William Hill book of the year every Christmas, and last December they would have been buying Duncan Hamilton’s “The Great Romantic”, a book about the cricket-writer Neville Cardus, who essentially invented modern sports writing.

Duncan won the first of his three awards for “Provided You Don’t Kiss Me”, his wondrous book about Brian Clough, and he joins us today to talk about the art of sports-writing, his latest book on the doyen of cricket-writers, and how he, as a lifelong Newcastle fan, feels about the Saudi takeover.
