The Murph and Mal Movie Club is back on the World Service today as our resident cinephile and Malachy Clerkin of the Irish Times take the reins and guide us from the cricket fields of the West Indies to the 2004 Leinster football final.

The lads chat about ‘Fire in Babylon’, a documentary focused on one of the most dominant sides ever in international sport: the West Indies cricket team of the 1970s and 1980s, who went fifteen years without ever losing a test series.

Then there’s ‘Marooned’, a documentary which ostensibly charts Westmeath’s journey to their first and only Leinster title win in 2004, but is really all about the man who somewhat reluctantly led them there: Páidí Ó Sé.

And finally, a film considered to be one of the best sports comedies out there, ‘Slap Shot’ starring the great Paul Newman, a movie which brings a lot of baggage with it.
