Think Twice Before Inviting A World Service Member To Your Wedding
On Monday’s podcast, I posed a couple of very important questions: is it OK to watch a major sporting event while attending a wedding? And just what lengths have our listeners gone to in the past?
Frankly, some of the answers I received sickened me to my core (And just to re-iterate, I definitely, 100%, categorically did NOT stream the Ireland-France game on my phone during the speeches of the wedding I attended last weekend).
Here’s a small selection of some of the more shocking listener revelations:
Ger v Arg 06.my wife was bridesmaid for best friend. All TVs turned off about an hour in. Watched in kitchen with argy cook.

@EoinMcDevitt Dropped bridesmaid up to brides house before, politely refused offer of breakfast, sneaked off to match, was back 4 2nd course

Of course, there are certain times when it’s acceptable to avoid the wedding altogether but only if it’s your own wedding and you happen to be playing in the biggest game in your country’s history.
And once again, just to be clear, I was fully present at the wedding I attended last weekend and was most certainly not streaming the match. Indeed, I take grave offence at the accusation.
