Episode 2011: David O’Doherty Meets Paul Kimmage, 1980’s Cycling, What Do You Do With The Past?
Isolators and regular Second Captains members mount up! This is one not to be missed.
We continue our 2000th podcast celebrations with a very special show. Our guest presenter David O’Doherty is Ireland’s foremost 1980s cycling obsessive and perhaps our greatest ever comedian. Today he achieves a lifetime goal and interviews one of his heroes.
Paul Kimmage is a former professional cyclist, one of the sport’s most prominent anti-doping campaigners and one of Ireland’s most respected journalists. His poster also featured on the bedroom wall of a young DOD growing up. Does this freak Paul out? You’ll have to listen to find out.
David fell in and out of love with cycling directly because of Paul and together, they try and figure out their complex relationship with the sport. What do you do with the past?
This is my childhood. That’s Alan on the bike, I think I’m beside the incredibly dangerous bricks. Photo is by Louis’ da. I think he’s in the dangerzone position on the end. pic.twitter.com/anu2ayvkwI
