The Champions League group stages usually do a pretty great job of keeping us entertained throughout the dark and drearier months of the year, but this week…  not so much.

Xavi said his Barcelona team wouldn’t need a miracle to beat Bayern last night but their head-to-head record suggested otherwise and a miracle was very much not forthcoming.

The real drama of the night was to be found in the UK where the Conservative government find themselves mired in scandal again and there’s one former football who’s very conspicuously speaking out against Boris Johnson. Is Gary Neville positioning himself to enter politics?

And we speak to Karan Tejwani, author of The Rebirth of Ajax Amsterdam about the club’s 6 from 6 in the CL, their insane goals for and against in the Dutch league, what this rejuvenation is built on and if they can hold onto the most sought after coach in the world, Erik ten Hag.
