Yesterday, what has been described as an unprecedented international action against the Kinahan organised crime group – helmed by the Gardaí and law enforcement agencies from the US, UK and EU – was announced at a press conference in Dublin.

The US has brought sanctions against Christy Kinahan Snr. and his sons Daniel & Christy Jnr. and offered a reward of $5 million for information which helps bring them to justice. We speak to Irish Times crime correspondent Conor Gallagher on today’s show about what the sanctions will mean in practical terms for the gang, why the US government is so invested in seeing justice done, and how we got to this point in the first place.

Gavan Casey of the 42.ie also joins us to discuss the depth of Daniel Kinahan’s involvement in boxing today, whether yesterday’s announcement means that his attempts at sportswashing have ultimately failed, and whether fighters with links to MTK – including Michael Conlan – will now distance themselves from the company.

Plus Northern Ireland head coach Kenny Shiels’ remarks about emotional women’s footballers caught Ken’s eye, particularly after watching Real Madrid’s Champions League games this year, and Murph waves his Champions League scoreboard in the general direction of Ken, but he’s having none of it.
