Episode 837: US Murph on Aaron Hernandez & Bill O’Reilly, Champions Cup Latest, Purple Rain
The story of Super Bowl winner Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriot turned murderer, is one of the darkest tales in recent NFL history. US Murph tells us about a man of exceptional sporting talent, who died by suicide this week.
There’s also the demise of Fox News bloviator-in-chief Bill O’Reilly, dismissed on the grounds of sexual harassment claims against him by co-workers, and the Patriots’ trip to the White House.
Police in Germany have arrested the man they believe to be responsible for the nail bomb attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus last week. It’s a crazier story than anyone had imagined. It was not the work of ideological fanatics, whether of the Islamist or neo-Nazi variety. It turns out that the crazy scheme was cooked up by a 28-year old Russian-German with the aim of making a couple of hundred grand on the stock market.

Munster and Leinster have named their teams for their European Rugby Champions Cup semi-finals this weekend, and there’s still no place for Conor Murray in the Munster team… Warren Gatland provided us with rather more information than we had bargained for on Murray’s injury last Wednesday at the Lions squad announcement.
And on the anniversary of Prince’s death, we have a special audio present for world service members courtesy of the brilliant James Vincent McMorrow.
