Episode 880: Lions Stumble Again, Luke Fitzgerald On Dropping Warburton, Sean Armstrong On The Comeback Trail
The British and Irish Lions have suffered their second defeat in NZ. The nucleus of the test team is now starting to form thanks partly to some standout performances, but also to some less than stellar displays from certain tourists.
Former Lion Luke Fitzgerald is in studio to assess how much damage, if any, this defeat will have on their chances of securing a test series victory, and how marginal calls may go for (in the case of Peter O’Mahony), or against, the Irish players in the squad.
Luke also reveals who he believes is the most talented backrower on tour, why captain Warburton is droppable, and why the Lions can’t get too caught up with the idea of playing open rugby.

And in light of Galway’s thrilling 1 point win over Mayo in the Connacht championship semi-final, we speak to Sean Armstrong, who top-scored with 6 brilliant points in Salthill.
He walked away from inter-county football at the end of 2014, and he tells us what it’s like when you realise you’re not enjoying yourself anymore, and what it’s like to regain your love for the game, regain your place on the team, and experience a day like last Sunday.
Plus there’s a very special announcement for our world service members, New Zealanders not playing by the pre-tour rules, and the relentless positivity of the professional athlete against our care-worn cynicism.
