Epsiode 2890: No Peace Until He’s Dead
Davy Tweed was a serial domestic abuser, a paedophile, an Ireland and Ulster rugby player, and a DUP and Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) councillor.. In 2012 Tweed was convicted on 13 counts of child sex abuse, over a period of eight years, from 1988 to 1996. One of his many victims was his step daughter Amanda Brown, who testified in court against him. Amanda joins us in studio today.
Tweed only served four years of his sentence, before getting out on a technicality. Five years after his release he died while riding his motorbike. It was the gushing tributes to Tweed as a “great sporting and political hero” that provoked Amanda to go onto Facebook and post: “Convicted paedophile dies following a motorbike accident”.
No Peace Until He’s Dead: My Story of Child Abuse at the Hands of Davy Tweed and My Journey to Recovery is Amanda Brown’s account of the terror Tweed inflicted on her mother, sisters and cousin Gemma. We discuss how Tweed got away with it for so long, the impact his sexual abuse has had on his victims and why people often don’t want to know the truth about men like Davy Tweed.
