Episode 1059: Exclusive – Australian Tennis Star Jelena Dokic On Her Abusive, Controlling Father, And How She Finally Broke Free
The history of tennis is littered with child proteges and their troubled relationships with pushy and domineering parents. But the mental and physical abuse Jelena Dokic suffered at the hands of her father Damir was at another level altogether, from when she first started playing the sport at the age of six.
The former No. 4 in the world and Wimbledon semi-finalist talks to us today in a British and Irish exclusive about her harrowing story, which she has told in her new book “Unbreakable”.
Jelena details the nature of the abuse, how she eventually broke free, and her despair at the lack of an intervention from anyone in the world of tennis.
