Episode 1082: Ireland V Italy, Why We Should Love The Winter Olympics, Wes Retires
Ireland have made three changes to their starting XV against Italy on Saturday afternoon, with Jack Conan at number 8 ahead of CJ Stander, Jack McGrath in for Cian Healy and Devin Toner for the injured James Ryan. We ask Matt Williams if its a conservative selection, and if this was the game to start Jordan Larmour and Joey Carbery.
We react to Wes Hoolahan’s retirement from international football with a wistful look in our collective eye.
First time I’d seen Wes play was my first game for Belvo U15’s. Drove up from Sligo with my Dad & little did I know I was about to play a match with the most gifted kid I’d ever come across & he was about 2 foot 2. Following greetings with management we were told to warm.

And the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony is tomorrow morning in South Korea. While our interest may not be piqued just yet, the Journal’s news editor Sinead O’Carroll is PUMPED. She tells us why we will fall in love with the Winter Olympics.
Plus there’s curling in Africa, Nagano 98 on the Playstation, and the agonised question of the quad.
