Episode 1110: Vincent Browne Exclusive, 5th Birthday Celebrations Begin, Live Show News
All this month we’re marking five years since the birth of Second Captains, and we begin the celebrations with an hour in the company of one of the great titans of Irish journalism for the last 50 years – Vincent Browne.
The idea all month is to talk to fiercely independent thinkers, and we could think of no-one better to start this series of chats with than Vincent – a man who has through his work in print, on radio and on television, epitomised an unyielding dedication to speaking truth to power.
We discuss his prowess on the hurling field, the toxic masculinity that too often infects sport, why his own editorial style caused him regret, and why he joined young Fine Gael in the late 1960s.
Plus there’s Ken’s early dealings with Vincent the editor, and we have very special news about the possible destination of our next live show…
Our Independent Thinkers series of podcasts is for members only. To listen to our shows, become a member of the Second Captains World Service. It’s independent, member-led, commercial-free broadcasting and we’d love to have you on board.
