Ken’s Irish Times article yesterday about just why so many people revel in calling Pep Guardiola a fraud after every set-back certainly caught Eamon Dunphy’s attention – and Eamon launched another scathing attack on our Ken last night. Ken’s rebuttal is today’s hors d’oeuvre.

But the centre-piece of today’s show is a chat with Rochdale’s Joe Thompson, who overcame family strife to join Manchester United as a schoolboy, and after he got released from there, built a career in the lower leagues before he was presented with even starker news.

Initially diagnosed with cancer in 2013, Joe fought his way back to continue a career in professional football. Then on Christmas Eve 2016, he was diagnosed with cancer for a second time. His struggle, and the fight required to earn the chance to run out at Wembley in a FA Cup fifth round game against Spurs earlier this year, is an extraordinary story, and he shares it with us today.

Plus there’s Ireland’s vital women’s World Cup qualifier, decodifying Dunphy, and fusilli-haired frauds.
