The history of Liverpool as a city is bound up with Ireland, with music, with football, and with the labour movement. Journalist Tony Evans is bound up in all of those, and he’s written a book about the city of Liverpool in the 198o’s, when it’s two football teams were the best in England, and the city was on the brink of war with Maggie Thatcher’s Tory government.
