Episode 1213: World Cup Final Preview With Ken and Richie Sadlier – Mbappe Joy, Pogba’s Dawn, Neville On Modric Media, Cocky Croats
It’s all a little emotional as we prepare for the final weekend of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. England and Belgium have another game in which they ponder how strong a team they want to field, and we’re left with France against Croatia to decide the destiny of the most famous trophy in world sport.
What is most striking about Croatia’s miracle is there’s no Icelandic model re infrastructure, or even a Greek template re play. They don’t play small-team set-piece football. So what’s it down to? Featuring input from former boss Igor Stimac, and Lovrenhttps://t.co/MHZR020R6V

But are they the two best sides left in the competition? Ken has a definite answer… NOOOOOOO!! Which leaves France as the heavy favourites. We wonder if Croatia and their massive balls have it in them to give us one more brilliant performance, and we ask are they more than just a couple of good midfielders and some willing teammates?
Richie joins us in studio with definitive proof that this has been a great World Cup.
Unpopular opinion: this World Cup has been great fun, but nothing like a great tournament. Lacking two essentials: needle/violence, and a proper high-level toe-to-toe heavyweight knockout game, a la Italy-Germany 06. (Both could still happen of course, but almost certainly won’t)

We give him 200 million euro and the presidency of Real Madrid and ask him who he’d buy after what we’ve seen in the last month, and we discuss the way Kylian Mbappé makes our football hearts go a flutter.
Plus there’s Gary Neville’s unconvincing riposte to Luka Modric, Jose’s bully pulpit, Paul Pogba’s hugely impressive World Cup, classy Kante, cocky Croats, a scum from the land of smiles, and we salute Mario Mandzukic.
Heard this over the years time and time again. My opinion is A journalist, Pundit or Broadcaster never won or lost a football game in history! Modric is a great player . I’m not having he was thinking of the Daily Star front page at 1-0 down https://t.co/YUcOoc1dmf
