Episode 1266: The Player’s Chair With Ciara Mageean
Just weeks out from her agonising fourth-place finish in the 1500m final of the European Championships, Irish track star Ciara Mageean sits down to chat to Richie at her home in Manchester.
She tells him how it feels to be called ‘the next Sonia’, how she has dealt with anxiety and self-sabotage, and what it’s like competing in an event (the London Olympics) in which six of the top nine finishers have tested positive for banned substances.
The World Junior Championships silver medalist also talks to us about persevering after enduring two years of injuries, the unique relationship between a coach and a Track and Field athlete, and her “its not you, its me” chat with Jerry Kiernan.
Plus there’s cuddles, cakes, facing TV interviews, and…. vomit – its The Player’s Chair with Ciara Mageean.
