Episode 1622: Champions Cup Is Back, Ireland’s Future In English Hands, Troy Parrott’s Long Career, Zlatan Loses And Leaves
Ireland play New Zealand tonight, as we continue our build-up to the massive match against Denmark on Monday night, and we speculate idly/wildly about just what sort of impact Troy Parrott will have on his debut, and in subsequent years. We start with 150 caps for the young Spurs man, and take it from there.
But the main course this afternoon is a full preview of the European Rugby Champions Cup, a tournament we’re all glad to see coming after our continuing travails at world cups – this is one tournament we all do well in.
Gerry Thornley of the Irish Times, and author Chris Hewett talk to us on the wave of English coaches hitting our shores in recent times – Lancaster, Farrell, Catt, Rowntree, McFarland – and if the old Farrell/Lancaster chemistry might shape the next few years of Irish rugby. And we also question if Steve Larkham is the fix-all for Munster this year or the start of a long difficult evolution.
Plus there’s Raheem Sterling and the new era of mockery, Ken hops aboard the Ireland/New Zealand hype train, and Zlatan loses El Trafico, and gets out of town.
