If we did four nights in the Liberty Hall Theatre, and it didn’t feature the wonderful Brian Murphy of KNBR radio, would the shows have even happened? He’s a festive staple at this stage, and Brian was on top form discussing his greatest ever sports love.

The San Francisco 49ers burst onto the national consciousness as Brian entered his teens, so his formative years were spent with his favourite team dominating the sport of American football.

He tells us about Joe Montana, the moment that lit the blue touch-paper, and his friendship with the great Dwight Clark who died of MND last year. And we also had a special guest on the night, the great Sonia O’Sullivan – as Sonia and he shared stories of the Barcelona Olympics.

For Sonia it was a fourth-place finish and a first step into the limelight, while for Murph it was access all areas passes, and his first ever experience of an RTE wrap party.

Plus there’s Eoin’s drunken salute to Sonia back in 2000, a brilliant standing ovation from our Liberty Hall crowd, all with thanks as ever to our live show sponsors O’Hara’s Brewery.
